BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. Speaker of
Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with
Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of
Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev in the course of the current working
trip to Dushanbe to participate in the international parliamentary
conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the
Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, Trend reports, citing the

Satisfaction with the advancement of the relations between our
states and legislatures was voiced during the meeting.
Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev congratulated Sahiba
Gafarova on the success of the Milli Majlis elections and her
re-election as Head of Parliament of Azerbaijan. He added that
Azerbaijan is a very important and reliable partner for his country
and that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of
relations with Azerbaijan. The significance of the co-operation
between our legislative assemblies to that end was also
mentioned.
Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the congratulations, then recalled her previous meetings with the Head of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As she said, such meetings and negotiations have contributed to the deepening of relations between our legislatures. According to Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, our nations are united by the common history and cultural and spiritual values, and the relations between our countries have deepened even more since the years of independence. Furthermore, she emphasised the importance of interaction between our Heads of State at the current high level of relations. The close relations of the Heads of State make a great contribution to the ties between our countries, contribute to the development and further strengthening and heightening of the co-operation.
They broached the special contribution to the development of relations of regular reciprocal visits and meetings held in recent years at the level of heads of parliaments, and also praised the work done by the friendship groups operating in the parliaments of both countries. The mutual visits of MPs as well as the regular meetings in reputable international parliamentary organisations are important from the point of view of further development of our ties and discussion of issues of interest to the sides.
Other matters of shared interest were discussed, too, as the conversation went on.
