Introduction of new European Union standards of motor fuels will not affect the import of the Azerbaijani combustive-lubricating materials, the Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli told Trend on 19 July.

В"The Azerbaijan’s plants correspond to the European and world standards and they produce the qualitative gasoline. I am absolutely confident that the import of the Azerbaijani oil products will not decrease, but may even grow”, he said.

This year the Georgian State Company “Saknavtobtransi” (former “Gruzneftetrans”) notified the SOCAR management, that the country’s government took a decision to use new standards of fuel from 1 January 2006. Saknavtobtransi is the largest buyer of the Azerbaijani oil products in Georgia.

From 1 January 2006, the benzol content in the gasolene, in particular, to be sold to Georgia, must not exceed 1%, aromatics вЂ" not over 35%. The benzol content in the Azerbaijani gasoline today, is 3-4 %, aromatic compounds вЂ"37%-42%.
