The Ministry of Labor and Social Security continued work on employment of the jobless. Several labor fairs were organized in the region in September. Thus, on 5 September 91 people were provided with job places in Barda, including 59 people employed I n the private enterprises. The labor fairs were in Shemakha and Khanlar, which enabled to employ 113 people.
In accordance with official statistics, as of 1 October 2005 a total of 3842,500 economically active people were employed in the Azerbaijan, or 46.4% of all population. In January to September 2005 average number of employees involved in enterprises and organizations of the country grew 86,000 people as compared to previous year.

The number of officially registered unemployed people made up 56,424 people, of which 51.7% are women. 5 people pretended at one job place.

In September average monthly unemployed allowances made up 213,400 manats, or 34.5% of average salary. 2518 unemployed received allowances.
On 16 September the Azerbaijani President issued a decree to increase the minimal salary 20% to 150,000 manats (approx. $33) from 1 October 2005.
As of official data, in this period the average monthly salary comprised 577,500 manats, or 22.2% more than the same period of 2004. The highest salaries were fixed in the spheres of industry, finance, rent and commerce, construction.
The social payments paid at the job places made up 27.3bn manats. Major part of benefits fell on employees of electricity gas and water supply, transport, store economy, communications and education.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in January to September 2005 net money incomes of the population grew 26.7%, or 5.7bn manats, as compared to last year and comprised 26870trln manats. Per capita incomes comprised 3,253,900m manats, or 25.4% up than 2004.

After implementation of tax remittances, obligatory payments and voluntary fees the real community incomes made up 25.7trln manats, or 26.7% more than 2004. In this period 73.6% of the community expenses was spent on purchase of goods and services, 4.5% - on obligatory payments and fees, 21.9% - purchase of foreign currency.
Over 9 months of 2005 the expenses turned out 649.1bn manats down as compared to incomes and made up 26,220,9bn manats, or 24.2% up as compared to 2004.
As to living subsistence in the country, the law on Targeted Social Aid envisages increase of the minimal salary to living wage. The Ministry of Economic Development and the State Statistics Committee drafted the order on definition of the living wage.
