A forum of the world Azerbaijani intelligentsia started its work in Antalia on 5 July 2005, Trend special correspondent reports from Turkey. 230 Azerbaijanis from 40 world countries participated in the event.
Following the opening remarks by Nazim Ibrahimov, the chairman of the State Committee on work with Azerbaijanis residing abroad, Ali Hasanov the head of the Public-Political Department of the Azerbaijani Presidents Apparat, read out an appeal by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Ibrahimov noted that Azerbaijans economic achievements and integration into the world community lay political, economic and moral foundation for the formation of the Azerbaijani Diaspora. The current event targets active involvement of art and culture masters residing in different world countries to the process of realization of Azerbaijanism, he stated.
Hasanov delivered a paper on Process of Globalization and defense of national-moral values. He shared with opinions on the maintenance of national values in the context of globalization.
The Minister for Culture and Tourism, Abulfaz Garayev, spoke on the topic The role of Culture heritage in building the Azerbaijani Diaspora and achievement of national solidarity, the Peoples Artist, Film Director Oktai Mirkasimov Cinematographic achievements of Azerbaijanis residing abroad is culture wealth of Azerbaijani people, the chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Journalists, Elchin Shikhli, - Necessity of establishment of unified information area.
Speaking on the problems of Diaspora MP Ganira Pashayeva noted that every member of the Diaspora ought to be a patriot.
In the end the forum made an appeal to the Azerbaijani President.
