Kazakhstan will join the project on the exploration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline this month, Trend reports citing the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as stating to ITAR-TASS.
"This month we will sign with the Azerbaijani government an agreement on Kazakhstans joining to the BTC," he stated to the third investment summit in Almaty. Nazarbayev announced that the document was scheduled for signing under the summit of the Council of Interaction and Confidence Measures in Asia due in Almaty on June 17.
Kazakhstan plans to export approximately 25 million tons of oil a year via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, which will deliver the oil to the Azerbaijani capital via the Caspian Sea by tankers.
