Due to Absence of Alternative Participants, Results of Competition on Frequency of ANS May be Considered Invalid Chairman of Azerbaijan TV and Radio Council

The Chairman of Azerbaijan National TV and Radio Council, Nushravan Maharramli, informed Trend that the period of the competition announced for the frequency of ANS TV and ANS-CM radio may be prolonged because only ANS participated in the competition. He said that the competition announced for the frequency of ANS TV and ANS-CM radio completed. Only ANS participated in the competition. No other TV channel submitted documents. According to Maharramli, due to the absence of the alternativeness, the results should be discussed because usually several participants take part in the competition. But only ANS participates in the competition and there is no competitor. Maharramli said that the results will be considered at the meeting of the Council and a relevant decision will be made till 5 February. The period of the competition may be prolonged because only ANS participates in the tender. If the conditions require, then, the present results will be considered as unacceptable. At the same time, based on these res
ults, the Council may announce the winner, Maharramli said.

He said that the broadcasting of ANS will continue by the end of the competition. If at the end of the competition, a decision is made in favor of ANS, the channel may continue its activities. Otherwise, its transmission will be terminated. It is very interesting for me why no other TV channel, except ANS, participated in the competition. Possibly participation of ANS in the competition prevented other participants. Because ANS is already acting structure and has its financial and technical base and staff possibilities. In my opinion, others denied to participate in the competition, Maharramli said.
