Azerbaijan and Pakistan intend to co-operate with regards to the defense industry. The Advisor of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Pakistan, Sabir Rzayev, exclusively informed Trend that the agreement was reached at a meeting between the Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, Yaver Jamalov, and Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Industry of Pakistan, Shaig Siddig Termidi, on February 7th.
During the meeting the sides highlighted the huge potential for co-operation of the two countries in this sphere. According to Rzayev, the Pakistani side expressed its readiness to share with the Azerbaijani side its experience in creating a defense industry in Azerbaijan. The diplomat said that the Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan plans to pay an official visit to Pakistan to hold broader consultations and get familiarized with the activities of the Pakistani enterprises of the defense industry. The visit will take place in spring of 2007.
The aim of Jamalov's present visit is to participate in the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Economic Co-operation Commission in Islamabad on February 7th.
