After the meeting between an American delegation headed by Peter V. Rodman, the Deputy U.S. Defense Secretary for International Security Issues and Azerbaijan Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, Ann Derse, the U. S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, informed journalists that the decision on the increase of the level of cooperation between the two countries was taken during the last visit of the Azerbaijan President, Ilham Aliyev to USA, Trend reports.
He marked the recent visit of the U.S. Energy Minister, Samuel Bodman to Azerbaijan as a result of the above-mentioned agreement between the two countries. Notably, during the visit of the American top official, economic cooperation between the two countries was expanded. The American Ambassador said that the present visit of the Deputy U.S. Defense Secretary to Azerbaijan was also intended for the reinforcement of bilateral relations between the two countries in military and defense spheres.
