Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Aghayeva / Azerbaijan can play a model role in the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian problem, Israeli Foreign Minister, Yossi Gal, stated in Baku on 12 June at a press conference after his two-day visit to Baku.
According to Gal, the situation in the Middle East was discussed during talks with Azerbaijani Government officials. Israel's position is to establish two states in the Middle East - Israel and Palestine. Establishment of Palestine should be implemented by the will of the Palestinian people. A principal agreement is that the newly established state will have to live in peace with Israel. Israel does its best to achieve peace in the region, however, extremists impede that. Palestinians are backed by a number of countries from outside including Iran, Syria, and others, Gal noted.
