Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament's Commission on Legal Policy and State Establishment and member of the Court-Legal Council, Ali Huseynov, said that work has been completed on the project which envisages making amendments to the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
He stressed that amendments are being made to bring the criminal legislation of Azerbaijan into compliance with European Conventions. "This issue may be discussed at the autumn session of Parliament," he said.
According to Huseynov, possibilities are being discussed to mitigate punishments for several crimes. In regard to this, Huseynov cited articles 147 and 148 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan regarding slander and insult.
