Prosecutor General’s Office Launched Investigation into Forced Evidence of Azadlig Correspondent

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 April / corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ Agil Khalil, the correspondent of Azadlig newspaper has appealed the Prosecutor General's Office stating that he was subject to torture by the investigation group while taking his statements.

Prosecutor General's Office has put into execution Khalilov's statement on torture and forced evidence. The Office stated that Agil Khalil was stabbed with knife by homosexuals, Elchin Sadigli, the lawyer of journalist said to Trend on 11 April.

The lawyer said that Azer Asgarov, the assistant to the prosecutor general received him and Agil Khalil on 11 April. Asgarov said to Khalil that an investigation has been launched against the torture of Khalil.

The lawyer said that he has protested against the investigation group.

The Khalil's lawyer sued the investigator of his correspondent's case for violating the law.
