German chancellor, president to watch Euro final in Vienna
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is to attend the final of the Euro 2008 football tournament to "holds thumbs" for the German team, her spokesman said in Berlin Friday.
As German President Horst Koehler would also attend, the team would be well supported in the final game against Spain, Merkel spokesman Thomas Steg said.
He noted in passing that Germany were "not necessarily favourites" to win, reported dpa.
Other German ministers, as well as party political representatives, are also scheduled to attend. Steg said Merkel would not hold political talks during her brief stay in Vienna.
Merkel has already attended two Germany matches at the tournament, the group game with Austria and semi-final with Turkey.
