Minimum Entrance Exam Points Likely to Increase in Azerbaijan: State Commission

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 July / corr. Trend J.Babayev / Minimum entrance points are expected to be increased in Azerbaijan as a result of the recent three entrance examinations for the Azerbaijani universities, Maleyke Abbaszade, the chairman of the State Commission on Students Admission (SCSA), said at a briefing in Baku on 18 July.

According to Abbaszade, basically the increase of points is connected with the presidential grant, which is given students who was succeeded to collect more than 600 points. "Applicants, who collected over 600 points, appeal the SCSA to know whether they will get the presidential grant," Abbaszade said.

The presidential grant of AZN 100 was established in Azerbaijan in 2004. This grant is given to 100 applicants a year.

In 2008, 132 applicants collected from 650 to 700 points on the third specialty group, 84 on the first group and 132 on the second group during the entrance examinations to the Azerbaijani universities for 2008-2009 school year.
