Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 12/ Trend , K. Zarbaliyeva/ Azerbaijan's former health minister charged with corruption related crimes has been hospitalized, Agaveyis Shahverdi, lawyer of former minister Ali Insanov, said to Trend .
Lawyer said Insanov was hospitalized in the treatment center of Penitentiary Service at 04:00p.m. today.
The European Court on Human Rights has sent a letter to the Azerbaijani government requesting to ensure Insanov's treatment, to hospitalize him and set a diagnosis by independent experts.
Azerbaijani government is expected to fulfill this request by the European Court until Dec. 20.
Shahverdiyev said commission of 6 doctors will be set up for his treatment. Insanov has a right to select three of them.
Rafael Mehdiyev, chief of the Central Health Office at the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, said to Trend that the issue of setting diagnosis for the former minister by independent experts will be decided in the treatment center.
He said though a former minister was proposed for several times to be to hospitalized, he declined.
He suffers from a "hole" in his spine.
Former health minister Ali Insanov, arrested in Oct. 2005, has been sentenced to 11years in jail with charges of corruption related crimes, attempt of coup d'eta and insurgency.
