The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kur and Araz Rivers during the second decade of October, the ministry reported today.

During the second decade of October, water consumption in the Kur River decreased by 13 cubic meters per second to 167 cubic meters per second.

The monitoring found that phenol and copper are strong pollutants. Biogenic substances exceeded the norm at points where the river is subjected to transboundary contamination in Georgia and Armenia.

Water consumption in the Araz River was 9.46 cubic meters per second.

The water's oxygen regime at all points remained at the corridor of 5.82-6.20 milligrams per liter.
