Georgia, Tbilisi, Nov. 22 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Georgia has simplified the introduction of ozone-friendly technologies.

Georgia will join the Beijing Amendments to the 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substances Damaging the Ozone Layer.

Parliament will ratify the document at a future session.

The amendments to the Montreal Protocol were adopted in China in 1999. Import and export conditions and the regulation of controlled substances damaging the ozone layer were changed.

The Environment Ministry said Georgia will avoid possible difficulties in importing and exporting hydrochlorofluorocarbons by joining the amendments.

Hydrochlorofluorocarbon trade with countries that have not joined the amendments will be banned from Jan. 1, 2013. Roughly 165 countries have joined them.
