Azerbaijan needs nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry specialists.
"Training specialists in nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry is our main and an important issue," Director of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Radiation Problems Institute Adil Garibov told Trend.
Azerbaijan has conducted research into radiation problems in recent years.
"However, we do not carry out research on the natural radioactive decay," he said.
"In the near future, research will launch into energy issues that are related to real scientific problems of interest to the world today," he said. "Thus, we pay attention to training specialists in the field of nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry."
According to the academy member, in the past year, over 15 young professionals have been invited to various international structures to undergo training in this area.
"From next year, the training of young cadres in this field could be held at the level of a state program," he said. "We are also considering opening bachelor's and master's degrees in nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry."
