UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors mull education issues, peace strengthening initiatives

The eleventh meeting of the UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors has kicked off in the Paris headquarters of this international organization today. The meeting was solemnly opened by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, ITAR-TASS reported with reference to the secretariat of the organization.

The eleventh meeting of the UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors has kicked off in the Paris headquarters of this international organization today. The meeting was solemnly opened by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, ITAR-TASS reported with reference to the secretariat of the organization.

The agenda includes a wide range of topics. The representatives from various countries will mull the problems of post-conflict situations worldwide, education issues, civil society initiatives of promoting peace and intercultural dialogue.

The UNESCO's activity and the ways of approving the organization's property worldwide will be also on focus at the Paris meeting.

At present, the group of Goodwill Ambassadors includes about 40 representatives of different areas of knowledge, creativity and social life. The group includes Azerbaijani First Lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, French astronaut Patrick Baudry, president of the World Association of Russian Press, Director General of ITAR-TASS Vitaly Ignatenko, president of the Asian Fund, Indian writer Madanjeet Singh, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and other prominent public figures, designed to spread the organization's ideas in the world.

UNESCO said that Goodwill Ambassadors are outstanding people supporting UNESCO's activity worldwide, putting their fame and influence to serve the Organization's ideals.
