According to the recommendations of the UN, creation of the coordinating council of state agencies working with children, and the development of national strategy related to children are planned in Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Efendiyev said during an event on Tuesday.
Reforms carried out in the field of child rights protection in Azerbaijan, have been highly appreciated, said Efendiyev. The UN discussed reports of the Azerbaijani government related to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the implementation of an optional program of the Convention "On the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography" and "Involvement of children in armed conflict".
As a result of discussions the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child presented recommendations to the Government of Azerbaijan in the field of child rights for the next five years.
With the assistance of UNICEF regulations on the coordinating council have been prepared, Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova said in her speech.
"Recommendations are related to the improvement of legislation on child rights, the implementation of ratified international documents and the implementation of institutional measures. Azerbaijani government was made recommendations to develop a more detailed program for the creation of juvenile justice, prevention of violence against children, ensuring a family environment, creation of special service of children police, improvement of the conditions of children in correctional institutions, further education of children in custody," Huseynova said.
Coordination Council should be created by relevant decision of the Cabinet of ministers, it should meet twice a year and monitor the children's institutions.
