In connection with the fire occurred at the section of the Mozdok-Gazimahammad main gas pipeline in the northern region of Azerbaijan, repair crews are arriving on the scene, Regional Emergency Commission Chief Gasim Gasimov told Trend on Saturday.
The cause of the explosion on the pipeline is unknown yet, he said. The incident was reported to the appropriate authorities, a telegram has been sent to Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov.
Gasimov reported about immediate stop of gas transportation during the blast. The resumption of gas transportation depends on relevant bodies' decisions.
A strong explosion took place at the Mozdok-Gazimahammad main gas pipeline in Shamakhi region on Friday night, which resulted in a fire. No victims are reported.
Mozdok-Gazimahammad main gas pipeline was built in 1983. It supplies natural gas from Azerbaijan to Russia.
Shamakhi city is located in about 135 km from Baku.
