More than 50 Russian warships and support vessels are preparing to begin naval exercises in the Caspian Sea, Sputnik International reported Feb. 29 citing Russian Defense Ministry's Southern Military District's press center.
"At present, the crews have begun developing and completing practical operations of preparing the ships for sail in the sea and preparing for combat operations," the press service said in a statement. "Over the remaining two months of the winter training period [March and April], each ship will complete a complex of ship combat operations and exercises, in which missile and artillery fire will be used against marine, coastal, and air targets."
