Thalassemia patients in Azerbaijan significantly outnumber official figures, Trend reports quoting Professor Chingiz Asadov, chief hematologist of Azeri Health Ministry.
Asadov said official statistics state up to 1,000 and over 1,000 thalassemia and hemophilia patients, respectively.
В"In fact, these patients total 2,000 per disease. At the moment we are working out the register on these patients, and then we will be able to state more actual figuresВ", - official said.
Professor Asadov said last time the government pays special attention to these patients in Azerbaijan. Big role in this respect plays Heydar Aliyev Fund as well.
