On July 3, the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan Fikrat Mammadov met with the program consultant of the director general of the Council of Europe on Human Rights Roman Khun who is on the visit in Baku, Trend reports with reference to the Justice Ministry.
The meeting focused on the implementation of joint programs of the Council of Europe and European Union in the conducting of the reforms in prison system of Azerbaijan.
Touching on the work within the project, Khun stated that the goal is to strengthen reforms in the prison system of Azerbaijan, upgrade the methods of management and make contribution to the employees of the Justice Ministry, and expressed his gratitude to the head of the Justice Ministry and collective of the Head Department for creating a favorable condition for cooperation. He mentioned the necessity of progressive reforms held in the court-legal system.
Presenting information about the key measures realized to prevent the serious violations, Mammadov presented to the attention of the guest the work done in the direction of provision of legislation, accurate organization process of reforms and protection of rights of prisoners.
Besides, the meeting focused on the prospects of the cooperation, measures taken within the project and other concrete questions.
