Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , K. Zarbaliyeva/ Journalist Mirza Sakit, an employee of the opposition "Azadlig" Newspaper, has passed a medical examination in the Patient Care Institution of the Azerbaijan Penitentiary Service.
According to a message being spread by the Penitentiary Service, during the medical examination conducted, no troubles with the journalist's heart was detected. Mr. Sakit is suffering neurosis and a tooth-ache. Physicians of the Patient Care Institution of the Penitentiary System of the Country are currently engaged in curing the aforesaid diseases of Mr. Sakit.
Notably, by the verdict brought by the Azerbaijan Court for Serious Crimes, Mr. Sakit was convicted on Article 234.1 (obtaining and keeping drug and psychotropic substances in quantities exceeding personal dose with the purpose to sale them then) and sentenced to a three-year imprisonment. The Azerbaijan Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of the Country have not satisfied appeals made by the convicted journalists and held the sentence passed by the Court of the first instance in force.
