Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr Z. Safarov / Azerbaijani Grand Master, Shahriyar Mammadov, who is a double winner of the world youth championships, took first place in the 'M-Tel Masters' Chess tournament in Sofia.
The game in the fifth round between Mammadov and his competitor Michael Adamson ended in a draw but then Mammadov finally beat the Englishman by 0.5 points. The games between the Romanian Liviu Dieter Nisipianu and Indian Krishnan Sashikiran, along with Veselin Topalov and Gata Kamski als ended in a draw.
On May 15 the participants will take a break.
