General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) and Uzbek State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources (Goskomgeo) signed an agreement to conduct geological studies for gold and tungsten in three areas in the country, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbek State Committee for Geology.

"The agreement states that the parties will prepare enlarged technical and economic calculations for conducting geological exploration and pilot industrial production in three areas that are promising to identify tungsten and gold deposits in Navoi and Jizzakh regions," a representative of the State Committee for Geology said.

To implement the agreement, Turkish side created the project operator - MTA Tashkent mining. In May 2018, State Committee for Geology and MTA signed a cooperation agreement on exploring prospective areas in Uzbekistan.

This year, the MTA will attract $2 million for geological exploration. In particular, airborne geophysical work, remote sensing, drilling and office work will be carried out within the three project areas.

"Following the positive results of the first stage of the project, the parties will develop and approve the program and budget of next stages," the agency added.

In October 2018, the Turkish company Tashyapi and Goskomgeo signed an agreement on the development of two gold deposits in Samarkand region. The Turkish company was to conduct certification drilling operations at the facilities, tests for the development of process schedules, as well as develop a preliminary feasibility study of the project for the development of fields by March 2019.
