Some 12,000 containers were transported along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) transport corridor in 2020, Trend reports referring to the subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Container LLC.

According to the subsidiary, in order to raise container traffic on the mentioned route, shipments of the containers in the directions of Turkey–China, and Turkey-Russia were launched.

"Starting from January 29, 2021, our company for the first time took part in cargo transportation by containers in the direction of Ankara-Moscow," a source in the LLC noted.

Besides, from February 2021, ADY Container, on the basis of a charter agreement with Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, plans to jointly use the Teymur Ahmadov vessel, which will transport containers from Baku to Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan).

"From April this year, ADY Container, along with the railway operator of Turkmenistan, will start operating feeder vessels through the support of the Baku International Sea Trade Port," added the source.

The volume of freight traffic on the BTK railway route, launched on October 30, 2017, steadily grows.
