BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 7. The priority of MasterCard company’s activities in Azerbaijan is aimed at increasing the volume of non-cash payments, Azerbaijani representative office of the company told Trend.
“To further support the development of the cashless payments market in Azerbaijan, our company closely cooperates with all financial stakeholders in the country, including the Central Bank (CBA) and partner banks. We’ll remain committed to sharing the latest technologies, services, and experience with the Azerbaijani side,” the representative office said.
According to the representative office, implementation of the initiatives is aimed at transforming Azerbaijan into a regional leader in the cashless economy.
“As of March, 2022, the total number of bank cards in Azerbaijan stood at over 11.7 million, which is 20.5 percent or 2.02 million cards more than the same period last year,” the representative office noted.
The number of MasterCard bank cards issued in Azerbaijan in 2021 increased by 20 percent, reminded the representative office.
