BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia is proud that many famous athletes across the world wear a uniform with the inscription 'Made in Georgia', Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava said, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

She made the remark at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new textile factory in Rustavi on July 14.

The factory will be built within the state program Produce in Georgia. It will be operated by Kartli Textile, a subsidiary of Georgia's Ajara Textile.

Turnava said that today, when the world is fighting COVID-19, every investment is important, but this investment is special as it will provide jobs to 3,000 people.

"Construction of this factory should be completed in four months. Ajara Textile was created with Turkish investment. In total, 350 million lari [$114.6 million] has been invested in setting four factories in Georgia. It is important that the company creates products for export," said Turnava.

Ajara Textile produces and exports more than 15 million items of apparel per year and cooperates with international brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma.

The company employs 3,500 people.
