Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 April / Trend / Azerbaijan should produce strategically important food products at maximal volumes, said the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the meeting of Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to the first quarter of 2008.
"I am sure that all planed programs will create an opportunity to us to fully ensure our food security," Ilham Aliyev said. For this purpose, the Country should increase the volumes of internal agricultural products and fully cover its demand for food products. "Yet we have not seen that," Ilham Aliyev said.
"We should allocate more attention to this sphere. If necessary, additional privileges should be provided, additional funds will be allocated for purchase of fuel and fertilizers," the President of Azerbaijan stated.
According to him, a fertilizers production plan should be built in Azerbaijan. "If the private sector can not or does not want to do it, probably some measures will be taken by the Government," Ilham Aliyev stated.
According to the President of Azerbaijan, privilege credits will continuously be given to the entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan. In the next several years, the process of re-paying privilege credits will commence and as a result, nearly $300-500mln permanent funds will appear. After these credits are fully re-paid, it will not be necessary for the State to allocate any additional funds. These funds, $300-500mln, will assist in creating new industry spheres and improving business conditions in the Country, Ilham Aliyev stated.
