Azerbaijani GDP Growth Rate Reaches 14%

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 April / Trend corr I.Khalilova / From Jan to March 2008, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Azerbaijan increased by 13.8% as compared to Jan - March 2007, the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee reported. At current prices, GDP has made up AZN 8.209.8mln. The GDP volume comprised AZN 963.4 per capita ($1.142.7), with an increase of 12.5%.

The total of volume of production rose in all the spheres of economy by 15.3% to 73.4% of the GDP, with major share of 66.4% (AZN 5.448.3bln) from the industry. The specific weight of all services made up 19.3%, with a drop of 5.8%. The value added cost in the sphere service dropped by 10.5%. Net taxes from the production and import comprised 7.3% in GDP.

AZN 110.9mln of the value added cost was collected from the hunting sector and agriculture (1.3%), AZN 470.8mln from the construction sector (5.7%), AZN 311.9mln (3.8%) - transport, AZN 152.4mln (1.9%) - communications, AZN 495.2mln (6%) - wholesale and retail trade, automobile sphere, household wares and services for repairing the objects of personal use, AZN 58.4mln (0.7%) - restaurants and hotel sector and AZN 562.9mln (6.9%) from the social services.
