Azerbaijan Increases Gas Transport via South Caucasian Pipeline Almost by 30%

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 November / Trend / The State Statistic Committee has reported that 149.7mln tons of cargo was transported within Jan-Oct 2008, 10.4% more as compared the same period in 2007.

Some 69.1% from total transported cargo fell on private sector. Some 47% was transported by automobile transport, 31.2% by pipelines, including 15.3% via railway and 6.5% - by sea transport.

Some 1bln people were transported by passenger transports within, which is by 7.9% more compared the same period in 2007. Private sector made up 83.4%, automobile transport. Most part of passengers were transported by automobile transport 83.5% and 15.9% by metro.

Some 22.9mln tons of different cargos were transported by railway transport, which is by 1.4% less as compared to 2007.

Some 9.7mln tons of different cargos by sea transport. The figure is by 14.3 % up as compared to 2007.. Transport of oil and oil products made up 69.1% and 30.9% dry cargo. Almost entire amount of cargo deliveries falls on international operations.

The volume of cargo processed in the Azerbaijani ports within nine months made up 4.5mln tons, which is by 1% less as compared to the same period in 2007

Some 70.3mln tons of cargo were transported by automobile transport, which is by 7.4 % more as compared to 2007. The number of passenger transport made up 851.3 mln of people with an increase of 6.9 %; some 96.7% of passengers were transported by bus and 3.3% by cars. The number of passenger transport by metro made up 162.3.6mln of people with an increase of 13.9%.

Air transport drop by 9.6% and made up 1.2mln of people. 1.2% of passengers transportation by this transport was implemented by the private sector.

Some 37.7mln tons of oil was transported by main oil pipelines via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. Some 28mln tons of cargo was transported from Baku in Jan-Oct in 2008. The total volume oil transported by main oil pipeline increased by 15.6% compared to 2007.

Some 9.1bln cu m of gas was transported by main gas pipeline within Jan-Oct 2008. The figure is by 58.3% more as compared to 2007. Some 3.9bln cu m of gas (29.4%) was transported via the South Caucasian gas pipeline.

Some 35.6mln tons of cargo (by 2.4% more compared to 2007) and 142.2mln passengers (by 6.4% more compared to 2007) were transported by Eurasian transport corridor via the territory of Azerbaijan within January to October 2008. The cost of deliveries made up AZN 195mln, which is more by 12.5% as compared to last year.
