Azerbaijani state committee for land and cartography not intends to register illegal settlements near mud volcanoes

The Azerbaijani state committee for land and cartography does not intend to give permissions for registration of land plots near mud volcanoes in the territory of Absheron peninsula, head of state committee Garib Mammadov said.  

"Several families live in the territory of mud volcanoes," Mammadov said.

None of them did not get and will not get permission for registration of land plots which they occupy due to violation of corresponding norms, he said.

All territory of mud volcanoes will be depicted on the map as natural property of Azerbaijan.

There are 300 mud volcanoes in Eastern Azerbaijan and near area of water of the Caspian Sea.

Guide book named Azerbaijani mud volcanoes was published in Azerbaijan. Roughly 25 mud volcanoes of Absheron peninsula, Shamakha-Gobustan region, South-Eastern Shirvan and Baku archipelago interesting for tourists are briefly described in this guide-book.  

There are over 800 mud volcanoes in the world, 300 are situated in Azerbaijan.
