New social security system will be introduced in Kyrgyzstan starting from January 1, 2010, Kiyal Mukashev, Assistant Director of the State Social Security Agency of Kyrgyzstan told the press Friday, news agency "24.kg" reported.

The state administration reform led to necessity of social security improvement. "Reform of social security system - monetization of benefits, introduction of new state benefit system and payments' compensation - was launched with assistance of the European Union and UNICEF," Mukashev said.

Regional social security administrations will be abolished from January 1, 2010 and their functions will be devolved on district and municipal administrations, Stephen John Avalyan Newton Manager of the EU project Support of state service reform in Kyrgyzstan said. "It means that the main part of the money will be spent on benefits but not administration," the manager added.
