Thirty-five cotton plants processed more than 500,000 tons of raw cotton in 2009, Turkmenpagta State Concern (Turkmenkhlopok) reported.
Producing about one million tons of raw cotton per year, Turkmenistan is in the top ten of the world cotton producers.
In 2009, the country expected a rich cotton harvest - 1.05 million tons of cotton from 545,000 hectares of land.
Turkmenistan- processes one third of cotton domestically. Businessmen of Europe and the U.S purchase products of the textile industry, especially denim, as well as these products are sold through a worldwide WalMart sales network.
