Modern laboratories to be used in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan will complete work to strengthen the capacity of laboratories for certification and expertise of jobs in 2012-2013, head of the State Labour Inspectorate under the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare Nabi Shukurlu said at a press conference. The Central Laboratory will be located in Baku, and regional - in Ganja and Nakhchivan.

"Creation of a modern laboratory is part of the project on development of social protection in Azerbaijan. It is realized by the World Bank and the government of the country," Shukurlu said.

Recommendations by experts from Germany, Bulgaria, France and Holland, who will also train staff for operation of laboratory equipment, are prepared to improve the operation of laboratories.

"These labs will be able to examine the type and extent of radioactive waste, pitch, and the existence of other facts that will help to prevent occupational diseases, as well as certify job, the head of the inspection said. The existing laboratories are unable to conduct such work, he said.

The inspection head also noted that during the first half of the production about 92 accidents occured, during which 23 people died, 77 people were injured. Most cases occurred in the industry (44), construction (22), transport and communication (9). The number of accidents decreased by 39, and in the construction sector - 28 cases compared to the same period last year.
