Tamiz Shahar JSC announced official partner of Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign Project

According to the contract signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and French Company "CNIM" S.A., Waste-to-Energy plant being built in Baku and its basic beneficiary "Tamiz Shahar" JSC have been announced official partner of Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign Project, the JSC said today.

According to the contract signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and French Company "CNIM" S.A., Waste-to-Energy plant being built in Baku and its basic beneficiary "Tamiz Shahar" JSC have been announced official partner of Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign Project, the JSC said today.

Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign" was established in 2005 within the framework of European Union. 90 huge organizations have been joined this project for last five years. Basic purposes of the project are to increase awareness of society, local and regional decision makers on sustainable energy, to create opportunity for learning and agitation of advanced practice, stimulate private capitals to sustainable energy technologies. The official partners of Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign Project are realizing more than 500 projects in the sphere of use of energy sources, saving in energy and power consumption effectiveness.

The construction of Balakhani waste-to-energy plant was decided within the framework of "The Complex Plan of Measures for Improvement of Ecological Situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2006-2010 years" approved by Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic dated 28 September 2006. The plant will be able to utilize 500,000  tons of municipal waste and 10,000 tons of medical waste annually. Such plants in world-wide are known as "Waste to Energy" plants. "Waste-to-Energy" plant being built in Baku will produce 231,5 million kwt/hr electricity annually. Due to plant performance, general mass of the wastes will be reduced 3 times; volume of wastes will be reduced 10 times. The plant is planned to be commissioned in late 2012.

The Balakhani waste-to-energy plant belongs to 4G of technology and it will meet the strictest environmental norms of both the Republic of Azerbaijan and European Union by multilevel protection mechanism.
