USAID holds training in Azerbaijan to strengthen potential in macroeconomic modeling

Training held by the Economic Reform Scientific Research Institute under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan within the program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support trade and investment reforms in the country on "Improvement of knowledge in macroeconomic modeling” has ended in Azerbaijan, the Ministry said.

Training held by the Economic Reform Scientific Research Institute under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan within the program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support trade and investment reforms in the country on "Improvement of knowledge in macroeconomic modeling" has ended in Azerbaijan, the Ministry said.

According to the Research Institute Deputy Director Fakhri Hasanov, the main goal of the training, held from Aug. 9 to 20 is to strengthen the scientific capacity of institutions in the sphere of macroeconomic modeling, analysis and forecasting. He said holding such events to enhance skills and knowledge of the Institute's staff will continue in the future.

According to the head of the USAID project on components of public expenditures Deepak Kapoor and coordinator Sabir Shikhaliyev, the Institute's activities are very important as a structure that implements   economic measures on use of scientific principles.

Professor at the universities of Houston and Maryland, Mitch Mokhtari said that Azerbaijan's economy strengthens each year, and in this regard training of staff and use of macroeconomic balanced models is very important.
The workshop participants received certificates.
