Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept.17 / Trend /

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (Seco) have reached an agreement on technical assistance to improve the foreign sector statistics in the CBA, including the methodological basis of payments balance, and bring it into line with the new methodological guidance of the IMF's Balance of Payments (Balance of Payments Manual 6th Edition), the CBA said.

As a result of the agreement, Seco skills expert Anna Lennblad arrived in Azerbaijan on Sept. 13. Her visit will continue until Sept. 30.

During this period, the Seco expert will conduct statistics courses for employees of the CBA Department, and assist in the preparation of the balance of payments on a new methodology and classification of accounts. Lennblad also will contribute to the preparation of a unified methodology for statistical classification of trade and non-trade goods.

The current state of the financial program will be monitored using methods established in the Central Bank with Lennblad's technical support, and recommendations for strengthening inter-sectoral linkages and improving the methods of analysis and forecasting have been made.

In addition, work continues to complete the "Flow-of-funds matrix" and "Financial Stability Indicators Prediction" programs carried out under the financial program.
