Georgia mainly exports ferroalloys, vehicles and scrap metal

In January-August ferroalloys took the leading position in the range of export products of Georgia.

According to the Georgian State Statistics Service (Gruzstat), in the top ten of exported products ferrous alloys rank the first, they account for 16 percent of export ($155 million).

Export of passenger cars during this period hit $131 million (13 percent), scrap metal is in the third place. Its exports grew by $27 million, amounting to $72 million.

Foreign trade turnover in Georgia in January-August amounted to $4051 million, which is 17 percent more than the same period of the last year. At the same time export transactions were carried out at $977 million (35 percent more), import - by 3074 million (12 percent more). Negative trade balance for this period totaled $2098 million (4 percent more).

In January-August 2010, compared to the same period in 2009, foreign trade turnover dropped by 24 percent and export by 9 percent, while imports - by 28 percent.
