Major foreign banks show interest in Azerbaijani leasing market

A number of large foreign banks, including Russian, show a serious interest in expanding the activities in the leasing market of Azerbaijan and investing in this area, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Leasing Companies Association (ALCA), CEO of "Joint Leasing", Elchin Ahmedov, said at the international conference "Leasing in Russia and the CIS" in Moscow, the ALCA reported.

A number of large foreign banks, including Russian, show a serious interest in expanding the activities in the leasing market of Azerbaijan and investing in this area, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Leasing Companies Association (ALCA), CEO of "Joint Leasing", Elchin Ahmedov, said at the international conference "Leasing in Russia and the CIS" in Moscow,  the ALCA reported.

"These big banks are also active participants in the leasing sector and consider the possibilities of their participation in the Azerbaijani leasing market, depending on conditions and prospects of its development," Ahmedov said.


During the conference, organized by IC Energy, the delegates discussed the topical issues such as new approaches to the leasing sector in the period of the financial crisis, market perspective and interaction of government and business.

The event also mulled such topics as the possibility of building a new relationship between the parties to leasing operations, changes in market structure and ensuring sustainable growth of the sector.

During the conference, Ahmedov had bilateral meetings with leaders of the leasing associations of Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Ukraine, as well as with representatives of the international financial institutions.

An agreement was reached to establish a closer cooperation.

"The conference was very important to share experiences, establish contacts and hold mutual exchange of information on the status of the leasing market of the CIS countries," he said.

The two-day conference was attended by the heads of the leasing associations of the CIS countries, representatives of the leading leasing companies of the CIS countries and Europe, local and the international financial institutions.
