British companies plan to expand presence in Turkmenistan

A joint meeting of the Turkmen and British Chambers of Industry and Commerce will be held with such companies as British Petroleum, Gaffney, Cline & Associates, Arawak Energy, Shell, De La Rue, Rolls-Royce, WYG International, Worley Parsons, BSP International Foundation Ltd., JCB and others in Ashgabat on October 13-14.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov received co-chairman of this chamber Ronald Nash, who arrived with a British delegation. According to the guest, leading British companies seek to expand their presence on the promising and dynamically developing Turkmen market and participate in the implementation of new joint projects.

Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported that the talks focused on priority areas for further partnership in such spheres as power engineering, processing, transport infrastructure, introduction of new technologies and staff training.

In its turn, Altyn Asir national TV channel said that a senior representative in London expressed support for Turkmenistan's energy policy. He noted urgency of initiatives to ensure global energy security, proposed by official Ashgabat and voiced from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly.

The Turkmen government cites Berdimuhammedov's words that Turkmenistan, being an energy power, and implementing a strategy of full modernization of production infrastructure of the oil and gas industry and diversification of energy resources export to the world markets, has huge potential and all means necessary to implement the new major projects in this area. It is ready to further expand cooperation with foreign, including European partners.
