The Uzbek cotton growers collected over 3.4 million tons of raw cotton. This year Uzbek cotton growers performed contracted obligations and gathered cotton in time to stock the harvest before the rainy weather, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade reported.

The country gathered 3.4 million tons of cotton. Average crop capacity of the fields increased versus the period of the last year by 4 percent and comprised 26.3 centner of hectare. 90 percent of gathered crop is the cotton of the first growth.

This year workers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Navoi, Andijan, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and Bukhara regions that managed to complete cotton hard work at harvest-time.

"A huge cotton harvest demonstrated big potential and wide perspectives of farming. Stepwise implementation of reforms on formation of farms on the basis of unprofitable, low-paying companies brings positive results," the ministry reported.

The volume and the quality of the crop first of all depend on the growth of cotton. Presently main cotton plantations focus on fine- and average-stapled cotton cultivated during the years of independence: "Bukhoro-6", "C-6524", "Namangan-77", "An-Boevut-2", "Bukhoro-8", "Bukhoro-102". These cotton growths are early-ripe with a high cotton output, steadiness to infections and vermins and are of a high demand in the world market.

"August of 2010 was announced a month of crop stocking. All necessary agro technical events - cultivation, watering, fight with deceases and vermins, defoliation were conducted in time. It was the main factor of the successful harvest stocking," the ministry reported.

High-quality organization of all events in time was mainly provided by the increased attention and control for cotton defoliation, preliminary preparation of material and technical bases, creation of necessary work conditions for rural workers.

Thanks to careful preparation for the harvest season most dekhkan farms completed their contractual obligations during the first cropping. Cotton growers received their wages every five days, which  played a big role in the increase of daily rates of cotton cropping.

Such complex measures resulted in a huge cotton harvest. The cotton cropping is still continuing.
