In January-August about 32,800 cars were imported to Azerbaijan. It is 24.3 percent less than the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the total value of cars imported in January-August amounted to about $279.9 million, or 8.1 percent less than in January-August of 2009.
Some 3,042 trucks were imported to Azerbaijan, or 30.7 percent less than the January-August last year. The total value of imported cars totaled more than $73.3 million, or 29.8 percent more than last year.
During the report period, the country imported 562 buses, or 26.7 percent less than in January-August last year. Buses worth $28.8 million were imported in January-August, or 20.2 percent less than the same period last year.
About 477 trucks were produced in Azerbaijan in January-August. During this period, about 369 cars were produced, or 12.3 times more than the same period last year.
