The management of the Georgian port of Poti - the Arabian Ras Al Khaima Investment Agency - plans to put into exploitation a new container terminal at Berth No. 14 in late 2010.

According to the source, construction has almost been completed.

"At this stage, the activities are being completed and the facility will open in late December," a source told Trend.

The source reported previously that a new container port will be put into operation in 2013-2014 on an area of 100 hectares.

The port's container turnover has grown by 25 percent in the past five years, which necessitated the opening of a new port.

The Poti handled 172,800 tons of containerized cargo last year. The port has 15 terminals, the port's official website reported.
