Azerbaijani insurers prepare proposals on compulsory insurance and disability in regions

Companies engaged exclusively in life insurance in Azerbaijan are offering options to ensure that their employees have compulsory insurance on labor ability loss in production, Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry Labor Inspectorate Deputy Chief Maharram Maharov said.

"Both companies - Qala Heyat and Atesgah Heyat - intend to provide services on new compulsory insurance services through subsidiaries and representative companies in the regions," Mahar said.

Mahar added that these companies lack branches in the regions, but they intend to create them in the future. There are two life insurance companies in Azerbaijan, Qala Heyat and Atesgah Heyat. Atesgah Heyat is a subsidiary of Atesgah Sigorta, which has branches in the Guba-Khachmaz, Ganja, Lankaran-Astara, Shaki-Zagatala regions.

Qala Heyat is a partner of Qarant Sigorta, which has branches in Ganja. The company plans to open offices in Barda and Lankaran in the near future.

In July 2010, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved the law on compulsory insurance on labor ability loss in production.

According to the World Labor Organization, accidents at work kill 2.3 million people each year worldwide; three times more people are injured.
