Ablai Mirzakhmetov has been elected as the new chairman of the board of Kazakhstan's National Economic Chamber "Atameken." The decision was made at the Atameken Congress in Astana on Wednesday.
"This post was previously held by Azat Peruashev, who voluntarily resigned and offered the candidacy to his Deputy Ablai Myrzakhmetov," the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC Board Chairman Timur Kulibayev said.
Kulibayev also thanked Peruashev for his work in the past.
"I have known Mirzakhmetov since my student years. He studied with me in Moscow. It was a difficult period in his life and he passed it with honor," Kulibayev said.
Earlier Azat Peruashev explained that his decision came under a heavy workload, which he faced after heading the Democratic Party "Ak Jol." The party was previously headed by Alikhan Baimenov, who in turn has been appointed chairman of the Agency for Civil Service.
