Baku Metro plans to commission two new stations - 'Memar Ajami 2' and 'Avtovogzal' in 2013, Baku Metro Chief Tagi Ahmedov said in an interview with the New Azerbaijan Party website.
He said the construction work is underway today. It is also planned to build a new line from the Memar Ajami station to the Liberty Square.
Mr. Ahmedov said the work is also underway to ensure the safety of passengers in the subway. Modern security equipment and cameras for surveillance were instate led at the stations and inside cars, he said.
He said new cars were also bought. Since 2003, Baku Metro has already acquired 166 cars. The number of new cars in the park metro is 75 percent.
