EU to allocate another 19 million euros to Georgia

Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze on behalf of the Georgian government signed a financial agreement within Sector Budget Support programme aiming to boost regional development in Georgia on Monday.

It envisages allocation of 19 million euros to Georgia.

The signing ceremony was attended by the head of EU Delegation to Georgia Philip Dimitrov and Georgian Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Ramaz Nikolaishvili.

Some 17 million euros of 19 million euros envisaged within the financial agreement "Support for Regional Development" will be directed at the state budget. Georgia will receive funds in three tranches. At the same time, 2 million euros will be spent on implementation of the technical assistance project, which will provide implementation of this program with expert resources.

The development of regional infrastructure (hospitals, local roads, gas supply and water supply systems), increasing opportunities for strategic planning at the regional level, strengthening the capacity of human resources at the regional level, facilitating formation of more flexible system of exchange of information and statistics are planned within the program "Support for Regional Development".
