Iran's production of farmed seafood is projected to be more than 310,000 tons this year if the infrastructure is available and there is no water shortage, ISNA reported.

Last year (Iran's solar year ended on March 19), Iran produced 280,000 tons of fish and seafood last year.

A little more than 8,000 tons of farmed shrimp were produced and that figure is expected to reach 15,000 tons said Mehdi Shakouri, Deputy for Aquaculture at the Iran Fisheries Organization.

Because of higher foreign currency exchange rates there will be greater motivation to produce and export shrimp this year.
